This collection contains a handmade riddle book created and used for the children of Lady Digby.

This book contains 124 riddles and answers each within decorative borders and frames. Many are typical word play riddles; others include topical and racist riddles on the anti-slavery movement. There is Uncle Tom's Cabin and other enslavement-related content. There are questions such as "Who is Uncle Tom's Aunt?"

Scope and Contents This addition to MSS 16758, The University of Virginia Collection on the History of Childhood, Parenting, and Family Building contains one handmade picturebook of hand-colored engraved cutouts. A later inscription on the front pastedown reads, "Fait par la baronne de Chalancey née Delcey pour as fille Clémence devenue Ctsse d' Esclaibes d'Hurst." Content Description

This collection contains a handwritten and hand-illustrated fair-copy bound manuscript titled, "The Journey of Jeremy Rabbit," by Jan Karon for her daughter, Candace, with a dedication note at the beginning of the manuscript.

The manuscript contains ten chapters of Jeremy Rabbit's fictional journey, and measures approximately 5.75" X 4.5" with a felt cover with a flower design.

Scope and Contents Addition 14 of MSS 16758, The UVA Collection on Childhood, Parenting, and Family Building contains two promotional posters (22"X6") for the 1965 and 1967 New York Children's Book Week.
