The volumes chronicle the formation and activities of the Virginia Fight for Freedom Committee, an organization which combatted isolationism and supported the Allied war effort before the U.S. entry. Correspondents include Richard Evelyn Byrd, Virginius Dabney, Carter Glass, Francis Pickens Miller, Claude Pepper, and Dave Edward Satterfield.
