Content Description
This addition to MSS 16758, The University of Virginia Collection on the History of Childhood, Parenting, and Family Building, contains leaves of a friendship album hand-drawn by the peers of its young student compiler, dated 1928 to 1930. There are twelve loose, hand-illustrated leaves of the album. All except one are signed, and most have dates. Colored pencils, crayons, and watercolors were used to create the drawings, with all associated text completed in pen or pencil. Images on the leaves include a young girl resting on a hammock, a train, a man on the moon, a farm landscape, flowers, a sunset, a drawing and accompanying rhyme about “Vanity Ann,” and a cat surrounded by horseshoes.
