Barbara Shermund editorial cartoon
Content Description
This collection contains a single pen and ink with wash en grisaille cartoon by Barabara Shermund, an American cartoonist who contributed to publications such as the New Yorker, Colliers, Esquire, and Life. The image is of a woman in a hat in front of a mirror and a saleswoman behind her. The caption that went along with the image read, "Listen, the shape the world is in today, you're better off things DO look fuzzy." However, this caption is not in the drawing or on the back of the image. The back of the image contained a Colier's stamp with the publisher's notes. The original art was received on June 14, 1941, and published in Collier's magazine on July 14, 1941.
