University of Virginia football players photographs, 0.03 cubic feet, includes photographs of Bill Luke, captain of the 1928 football team (photo 1927); John Sloan, captain and quarterback (1929); John Leys (1933); Ken Morton (1933); Stephen Davenport (1935); and Wesley L. Harris (1961) Included is an original press photograph of the UVA football players, filmed by Pathe, Fox and International news during team training "Rocking the Boat-Back."

Biographical / Historical
Football player, Wesley L. Harris was trying to become the first African American to make varsity football at the University of Virginia. (1961) He was also an honors students in engineering. Bill Luke was Captain of the 1928 UVA football team. John Sloan was the 1929 UVA Captain and quarterback. John Leys and Ken Morton were in the end position, 1933, November 28. John Leys was also All American Nominee and Captain of the team in 1935. Steven Davenport was center 1935.
