This collection consists of Rhys Isaac's 1987 Thomas Jefferson Memorial Lecture at the University of Virginia. The lecture is titled "The Virginia Enlightenment: Construction in Time and Space" with annotation from Isaac to Gayle Cooper, Rare Book cataloger at the University of Virginia. Also included is a letter from Isaac to Gail [sic] and a list of Sabine Hall books requested for priority cataloging.

Biographical / Historical

Rhys Llywelyn Isaac (1937–2010) was a South African-born Australian historian of American history who also worked in the United States. Isaac won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for History for his book "The Transformation of Virginia, 1740-1790" (1982).
