Biographical / Historical

Samuel J. C. Moore (grandson of E. C. Moore) was a lawyer and planter of Berryville, Clarke County, Virginia and was an officer with the 2nd Virginia Infantry Regiment with Stonewall Jackson and adjutant to Jubal Early during the Civil War. His wife, Ellen Moore remained in Berryville during the war. Their son Samuel Scolley Moore attended the University of Virginia. His grandmother was concerned about them during the raid at Harpers Ferry.
