The first edition of 100 copies was self-published and distributed in Charlottesville and other nationwide venues. the title "Pigeon" was derived from Kelly's affinity for these "underdogs of the urban sky." Selected drawings from Kelly were exhibited during March 2012 at the Virginia Arts of the Book Center. "Pigeon" was published as a "letter pressed book of illustrations."
"Linen Finish" was the result of a collaboration with a poet friend, starting in 2001. Using a combination of Kelly's illustrations and his friend's poetry they produced an exhibit titled "Linen Finish." The name came from the descriptive term used on the spine of a deck of playing cards.
