Y.B. Garden collection of S.S. Van Dine
Content Description
This collection contains correspondence, stationary, a photograph, and a copy of the Philip Vance Murder Cases from Y. B Garden, the secretary to detective novelist S.S. Van Dine, pseudonym of Williard Huntington Wright. The correspondence is between Garden to Evelyn Phaup, a collector of Wright, from Richmond, Virginia. The correspondence includes impressions of S.S. Dine from Garden. There is also a photograph of Van Dine signed to Garden and blank stationary of Van Dine. Also included is a "dummy" copy of the Philip Vance Murder Cases that Garden sent with a letter that states "I myself do not have a copy...but I do have a bound dummy of all the extraneous material of that volume. The binding is exactly like the volume itself."
