 Unprocessed Material — Box: RG 25 - Additions Box 1, Folder: ViU-2023-0137_001
Identifier: ViU-2023-0137

Content Description

This addition to RG-25/4, VP for Development/ Capital Campaign, contains a case statement - a document used in fundraising to secure charitable gifts to support the University- promoting the University of Virginia Development Fund. Prefaced with an account of the University's founding, titled "Unique in the Republic," the majority of the volume is titled "All Your Sons...". The latter section discusses Jefferson's intentions with his University, the courses and facilities offered, the "republican form of government" perpetuated by the University, major donors, and advocates. Eight projects are identified for fundraising. Discussions of "the decade after World War II" and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt suggest that this was used for a capital campaign likely conducted in the late 1940s to early 1950s. The personnel of the Development Fund is outlined in the endnotes section of the publication.
