Thomas Jefferson letter to William Annesley
Content Description
This addition to MSS 11411 contains a single ASL letter from Thomas Jefferson to William Annesley dated November 20, 1822. The letter is Jefferson's response to Annesley's request for Jefferson to judge the quality of a pamphlet that Annsley wrote on shipbuilding. Jefferson replied, "born & bred among the mountains, and scarcely knowing the head from the stern of the ship," that he knew little of shipbuilding and was declining the request.
