This collection consists of a screenplay for the 1958 film adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea" written by scriptwriter Peter Viertel (1920-2007). The front cover notes that this is a 'revised continuity' script and is comprised of 103 pages. Each page features the date "4/25/57" in the upper right corner with the respective page number below with no notes or other marginalia in the script. The 1958 theatrical release of "The Old Man and the Sea" was a critical success, earning Lead Actor Spencer Tracy a National Board of Review Award for Best Actor and an Academy Award for Best Leading Actor nomination. The screenplay was among Peter Viertel's final works before his semi-retirement in the early 1960s.
