This collection contains the records of the Senior Statesmen of Virginia. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Charlottesville, the Senior Statesmen of Virginia offer political discourse, candidate forums, and debates for seniors. Serving the entire state of Virginia, the Senior Statesmen offers open candidate interviews every election cycle and public events to allow a forum-style interaction with emergency personnel, politicians, and other civic figures. The collection contains printed editions of monthly email newsletters sent to members from 1999 to 2022, executive board meeting minutes and yearly budget information, membership rosters, pamphlets, newspaper articles about the SSV and their events, and literature about individual members and speakers. Speaking engagement and event announcements are also present, typically attached to the monthly newsletters. Also included are a Senior Statesmen of Virginia circular seal and a handmade sign.
