Content Description
This addition to the Richard Guy Wilson papers contains 35mm slides totaling approximately 4600 slides documenting regional, national, and international buildings. These slides were scanned by the Fine Arts Library on behalf of Dr. Wilson, Professor Emeritus of Architectural History at the University of Virginia. The slides contain shots of interiors, exteriors, and particular features of public and private buildings including residences, churches, universities, government buildings, and historical sites. The individual slides have annotations with varying detail including the building name, location, dates, and other relevant information regarding the content of the slides and/or the provenance of the building. As noted by Dr. Wilson, Box 4, which holds four smaller boxes (4A-4D) of individual slides, contains the slides that he used most frequently and are most significant. Boxes 1 and 2 contain approximately 90 sheets of slides that each hold 20 slides. Box 3 contains approximately 12 sheets of slides that each hold 20 slides. Box 4 contains four smaller boxes (4A-4D) that each hold approximately 200 individual slides for a total of approximately 800 slides.
