Content Description

This addition to RG 2/1, Office of the President/Reports, contains one annual report on Free Speech in accordance with § 23.1-401.1(D) of the Code of Virginia for 2024. These reports document the University of Virginia's efforts to maintain the constitutional principles of free expression and the open exchange of ideas. The report includes a letter to Governor Youngkin, Senator Hashmi, and Delegate Rasoul documenting the state of Free Speech for the University of Virginia. It notes that the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) ranked UVA #1 in the entire country, the maintenance of the website UVA that features links to University policies and state regulations relevant to free speech and lists a sample of events and initiatives demonstrating the university's commitment to freedom of expression. In addition to the letter are two exhibits: Exhibit 1, the student information system enrollment module for new and returning students, and Exhibit 2, the University Judiciary Committee training and education.
