Content Description

This addition to MSS 15658 contains correspondence, photographs, newsletters, scrapbooks, newsletters, questionnaires, pamphlets, brochures, and clippings about Nature Camp. Nature Camp is a summer program introducing children and families to Virginia's mountainous and valley regions. Envisioned in 1939, and the inaugural session opened in 1942. The collection includes numerous donations documenting the campers and staff's experience at the camp and testimonials about their experience as well as brochures and other ephemera about the camp. Also included are clippings about the Nature Camp covered in the Daily Progress and other Charlottesville newspapers; Nature Camp's newsletter, "Woodland Echoes;" photographs feature families and children participating in activities at the Nature Camp. Also included are four scrapbooks: two scrapbooks include colored illustrations of birds, one scrapbook from 1977 documenting the experience of a camper, and a photo album documenting camp life from 1942 to 1993.
