Content Description
This collection contains correspondence from Breece D'J Pancake (1952-1979) an American short story writer to Michael Jennings as well as related clippings and correspondence about Pancake. The bulk of materials is correspondence between Jennings and Pancake who were friends and graduate students at the University of Virginia, beginning from Jenning's enrollment in the spring semester of 1977. They both held the Hoyns Fellowships at U.Va. during the 1978-79 academic year and their friendship continued until Pancake's death in 1979. The correspondence focus on writing and day-to-day life. In addition to the correspondence, are a copy of a cover note sent to John Casey, a novelist and professor at the University of Virginia whom Pancake studied under, a note from John Casey, a letter from Helen Pancake (Pancake's mother), and clippings.
