K. Edward Lay Papers-addition 16
This addition to MSS 12817, K. Edward Lay papers contains the email correspondence between K. Edward Lay and his colleagues of the architectural field. Lay is the Cary D. Langhorne Professor Emeritus of Architecture at the University of Virginia and has taught architecture at the university since 1967. The emails span the year 2021 with the first conversation dated January 6th and the final dated December 31st. The majority of the correspondence focuses on architectural history and the current academic conditions of the University of Virginia School of Architecture. Virginia-based sites pertinent to the field of architectural history are frequently discussed as well as Lay's 2015 project "History of the University of Virginia School of Architecture." In addition to views on architecture, the personal beliefs of Lay and his colleagues regarding the fate of Charlottesville's Confederate monuments are also discussed in great detail. A USB drive is included in this collection and an accompanying paper slip provided by Lay outlines its contents.
