Content Description
This collection of Brontë materials includes original artwork of Charlotte and Patrick Branwell Brontë; correspondence from Charlotte Brontë, primarily to Ellen Nussey but also letters to her father and Martha Brown; Juvenilia of Charlotte Brontë, as well as a fragment in Charlotte’s hand, mentioning her father’s health and soirees at Mechanics’ Institute, and a memorial card regarding Charlotte's death. In addition, there is a letter from Anna Jameson to Elizabeth Gaskell on the death of Charlotte, as well as an original manuscript of Ted Hughes' poem "Emily Brontë."
