This addition to MSS 7179 John William DeForest papers contains a single letter signed and dated New Haven, 25 March 1901, to the Bulletin of the Society of American Authors. On letterhead of the Hotel Garde, "Opposite Union Depot." Approximately 300 words inquiring about a story in the Bulletin of the Society of American Authors which asserted that "Publishing wholly or in considerable part at the author's cost has become quite commonplace with at least two Boston publishing firms." DeForest goes on to expound on his own experience trying to publish and difficulty with publishers.
