The collection primarily contains Newlon's research on the history of concrete and historic concrete structures from antiquity through the twentieth century. It includes articles, reports, notes, and professional correspondence. Topics include developing and using concrete, manufacturing, technologies, and specific structures, including houses, buildings, bridges, ships, and marine structures; Newlon's notes accompany some of these copies. Some publications and photocopies are in Russian and Spanish. Newlon's professional correspondence pertains to his work with the professional Societies of the American Concrete Institute and the American Society for Testing and Materials from the 1950s to the 1990s.
