This addition to RG 12/1/1 University Library/ University Librarian/ Office Administrative Files contains a letter from Harry Clemons to Alicia Wertenbaker Freeman with an explanatory note by Sandy Gilliam, University Historian. The collection contains a letter from Clemons to Miss Freeman granting her special borrowing privileges due to her unique status as great-granddaughter of William Wertenbaker, who was appointed librarian by Thomas Jefferson.Gilliam's note of explanation gives background material on Miss Wertenbaker and her son the Charlottesville artist John Middleton Freeman.
