Fine Arts Library records--addition 3

 Unprocessed Material — Multiple Containers
Identifier: ViU-2023-0051

Content Description

This addition to RG-12/13, University Library/ Fine Arts Library, includes clippings, slides, photographs, correspondence, receipts, press releases, reports, exhibit preparation, zip disks, floppy disks and an optical disk related to the work of the Fiske Kimball Fine Arts Library. An extensive portion of this collection focuses on a 1995 library exhibit on the life and work of Fiske Kimball. Kimball was an American architect, architectural historian, and museum director who, among many other significant accomplishments, served as the founder and faculty member at the School of Architecture. The materials include gallery designs, clippings, notes, research, correspondence on a related symposium, and bibliographical and biographical information on Kimball. In addition to the exhibit, other materials document the art library's other projects, including a 1986 stacks addition, newspaper coverage of the library's construction, and adjacent Campbell Hall, the School of Architecture, in the 1970s. Also included are various clippings of local and University newspaper articles discussing the future of the McIntire Amphitheater, which was then used as a 45-slot parking lot. The "regrassing" effort of the site is captured in these articles and the opinions of staff and faculty. The digital materials include primarily JPG and HTML files for the Fine Arts library files.
