Content Description

This collection contains binders with preparatory materials, questions, notes, and VHS tapes from fifty-one interviews conducted between 2000 and 2015 by Julian Bond and Phyllis Leffler as part of the Explorations in Black Leadership project. This project consisted of oral histories of leaders from the Black community, from all areas including law, education, religion, public service, the arts, and business, examining how leaders are nurtured, and how historical circumstances shape them. The binders contain interview questions, possible answers prepared for Julian Bond, the primary interviewer, by interns with the Institute for Public History, handwritten notes, and correspondence. There are also three cubics (Boxes 7-9) of audio and video cassettes, CDs, and DVDs of interviews and other project related materials.
