ENWR 2520: History of Writing at UVA student projects
Content Description
This collection contains thirty-one final projects completed by students for ENWR 2520: History and Culture of Writing at UVA in 2022. Taught by English Professor Heidi Nobles, students compiled a personal time capsule of essays and printed objects to donate to the Small Special Collections Library. The students spent the spring semester researching and studying writing done at the University of Virginia over time. For their final project, students created original texts that they’d like to add to the record, to speak to what they see as the culture of the university today. The subject matter includes First Year experiences, COVID-19 anxieties, reflections on friendships, and descriptions of everyday life as a University of Virginia student. Printed materials include personal photographs (corresponding to essays), flyers for student events, a University of Virginia-branded face mask, a capella group advertisement, printed emails from University administration on COVID-19, printed news articles, and photographs of Grounds. Two students submitted their projects on a USB drive instead of a physical addition.
