Content Description
This collection details Caroline Brandt's work building her collection of miniature books and her donation of it to the University of Virginia. This collection contains correspondence, clippings, newsletters, photographs, certificates, broadsides, catalogs, notes, and lectures, appraisals, articles, DVDs, audio cassettes and VHS tapes related to miniature books and to Brandt as a collector. The bulk of materials are reference materials on the miniature books as well as appraisals documenting the collection and its value. Brandt spent most of her life building a collection of 15,000 miniature books, which now resides in the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library. The McGehee Miniature Book Collection, named after her first husband, C. Coleman McGehee, a UVA alumnus, came to the library in 2005.
