Content Description

This addition to RG-1/1/1 (The Rector and the Visitors/The Board of Visitors/ Minutes) contains the meeting minutes for June 1-2, 2023. The minutes document the regular business of the board including the resolutions approved by the Board of Visitors, memorial and commending resolutions, gift and grant reports, notices of the naming and demolition of buildings and structures on grounds, new professorships and degree programs, enrollment projections for the University, faculty personnel actions, elections, actions relating to chairholders, and change of titles. In the discussion portion, President Ryan gave a broad overview of diversity, equity, and inclusion at UVA, accompanied by slides that outlined his points. He included Kevin McDonald, Vice President for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Community Partnerships, to fill in and help answer questions. He also asked VP and Director of Athletics Carla Williams and Chief of Police Tim Longo about their efforts in this space, to give a sense of how DEI operates in different contexts.
