This collection consists of a report card from the University of Virginia with a letter written on the reverse from a B.H. Winston. The bifolio report card, mailed from Charlottesville to Marysville, Virginia, was dated 1845 and signed by William. B. Rogers. A brief personal note is written on the reverse of the report card from Winston to his family. The letter pertains to family matters, mostly concern for his grandmother's health, and needs for additional money in the spring. It is addressed to family members and bears a University of Virginia postmark dated Jan. 8. William B. Rogers was the first President of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1861-1870) and third President of the National Academy of Science and graduated from William and Mary. Rogers served as professor of natural philosophy from 1835 to 1853 at the University of Virginia.
