Addition to the Jerome McGann papers-Rossetti Archives and NINES records
Content Description
This collection contains an addition to Jerome McGann papers (MSS 15427) which document the research and work on the Rossetti Archive and the Networked Infrastructure for Nineteenth-century Electronic Scholarship (NINES) projects. The Rossetti Archive was an important early digital humanities project that began in 1993 and was completed in 2008. This project sought to bring together the pictorial, textual, and also contextual writing from the period of the nineteenth-century English poet and artist, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Boxes 1 and 2 of the collection are mainly comprised of mail and printed emails between staff and librarians from other institutions around the world and McGann about the project. Box 3, contains correspondence but largely contains annotations and notes of Rossetti manuscripts. Box 4 contains correspondence, notes on manuscripts, and four unbound binders about technical proofing. Box 5 of the collection holds annotated images and documentation of Rossetti manuscripts and art in addition to one unbound binder on RAW samples and templates. Box 6 contains further manuscripts with coding information, along with an unbound binder of photo slides. Boxes 7 to 10 contain approximately 152 CDs, 31 floppy disks, 12 containers of slide decks, 4 binders of slide decks, and 3 tapes related to the work creating the Rossetti Archive.
