Biographical / Historical
Thomas D. Ranson, UVA Law 1868, was born May 19, 1843 near Charleston, West Virginia. In 1861 he joined the Confederate Army, and fought under the orders of generals Rober E; Lee and J. E. B. Stuart. He was captured by the Union Forces in 1864 and was imprisoned at Fort McHenry. After his release in 1965, he farmed and in 1868 he got his law degree from the University of Virginia. Afterwards he practice law in Staunton, Va. until 1918.
