Scope and Contents

Oversize items are too large to fit in standard manuscript boxes, and may be either individual donations or elements of larger collections, as referenced. In general, most oversize items are images rather than documents. All are sorted into one of seven series, by type, as follows: 1) Early Photographs (before ca. 1930); 2) General Photographs; 3) University of Virginia Nursing Class Photographs; 4) Prints, Certificates, and Diplomas; 5) Original Artwork; 6) Posters; and 7) Miscellaneous Items.

Arrangement

In 2013, Series 1 items are boxed and shelved in the temperature and humidity controlled room, "Oversize Box 1." All other series items are organized in labeled map case drawers in the workroom. Bulky miscellaneous items are boxed and shelved in the temperature and humidity controlled room, "Oversize Box 2."

Oversize items are listed in an item-level inventory. Materials are grouped first into series, then by folder, if applicable, then by sequential item number per series. Decimals indicate a duplicate image.
