Content Description High school memory scrapbook and photo album of Bessie Marie Africa of Kanawha, Iowa from 1923 to 1927. The scrapbook is in a "School Friendship Book binding" assembled by Bessie Marie Africa documenting her high school years at Sanborn High School. It includes correspondence, programs, and mementos from theater, basketball, and football, and a declamatory contest. There are two large dolls created out of crepe paper.

Content Description A ladies album belonging to Lucy Bradbury Bruce of Worcester County, Massachusetts which contains five engraved plates, sentiments from friends and family, three calligraphy drawings, and a watercolor theorem of a rose. Most of the well wishes are signed and dated, and many include locations. Predominately the locations and many of the signers are women including two of her sisters.

The album includes multiple entries from Annie's friends and relations, many of which are dated 1858, Easton. Most of the entries are in verse form about friendship, memory, and in some cases death. Content Description This collection consists of one volume. An elaborate sketched title "Mary C. Jones Album," is the first page used; 79 pages used for hand-written inscriptions, verse, and literature, including some calligraphy. Signatures from Providence, "Washington Ball," and New York. The inscriptions are mostly addressed to "Caroline." Marbled paper over boards with red leather spine and red leather board edges; red leather label with gilt stamped name "Mary C. Frances Eleanor Poole commonplace book

Content Description This collection contains a commonplace book written in by Frances Eleanor "Fannie" Poole and her classmates at the Frederick Female Seminary in Maryland. The book includes a frontispiece, engraved title page, and additional plates. Poole wrote "this side up," beneath her inscription, but the binding is upside down. Poole died at the age of nineteen in 1860, four years after the last dated entry in the book. The book has heavy foxing on the plates and pages were torn from the book.

The books are nicknamed the Books of Wisdom and ignorance in part because one notebook was titled "Ignorance Book," by Rowley, while the other two books were labeled with the following note, “Aunt Harriet’s books of wisdom.” These books hold recordings of quotes from famous authors and orators of the late 19th century, and as such they are full of "wisdom" and advice on life. ...
