African Heroes and Heroines printing plate by Lois Mailou Jones
This collection contains a steel printing plate mounted on a block for the dust jacket of Dr. Carter G. Woodson's "African Heroes and Heroines," published by Woodson's publishing imprint Associated Publishers, Inc. in 1939. The cover illustration was created by Lois Mailou Jones (1905-1998), who illustrated many projects of Woodson, and the block has her name, "Lois M. Jones," in the plate's lower right corner.
Agnes M. Marshall/American Association of Neuroscience Nurses Papers
(1934-2010) Associate Professor of Nursing at Northwestern, Chicago, where she established and directed the graduate program in Neuroscience Nursing. Founder and second president of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, and launched its professional journal (J of Neuroscience Nursing); established the World Federation of Neuroscience Nurses. Includes Marshall's correspondence as well as items related to both professional organizations.

The Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing Records are comprised of 22 boxes of papers and archival material, including photographs, manuscripts, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reports, Yearbooks, nursing caps and uniforms. The collection does *not* contain official student records such as transcripts. HSL does not know where these records were transferred when the school closed.
Alice Constance Burford Booth Papers
(1920–2004) Faculty member at the Medical College of Virginia School of Nursing, specialist in psychiatric nursing. Papers include reference materials and notes concerning diagnosis and treatment of mental illnesses, along with course materials in the mid-1940s and the mid-1960s. These relate the state of knowledge at mid-century.
