The addendum to this collection consists of letters and postcards that Shawe sent to his brother while he was a law student at the University of Virginia.

This collection consists of thrity-three reproductions of historical photos, taken in 1910, of employees and people who were in charge of different departments of what was then called the Bureau of Chemistry, now the Food and Drug Administration. In addition to these reproductions, there is a memorandum to the FDA Leadership Council (2006?) about the centennial anniversary, with some historical facts and photocopies of past commemorative documents.

HUAC was an investigative committee formed by the US House and charged with investigating subversive activities of private American citizens and organizations suspected of being connected to, or supportive of, communist or fascist activities.
