Hancock Mutual Insurance Company record books
Scope and Contents
These two ledgers were kept by a Castine, Maine, fire and marine insurance company in the 1850's. The first volume begins with a handwritten copy of the 1852 act of incorporation, followed by records of the trustees' meetings through 1858. The second volume contains abstracts of policies from 1853-1855, and records of open policies for 1855. Each volume also held a number of loose items.
