Biographical / Historical

The Commonwealth of Virginia established the Court of Appeals on January 1, 1985. It is an appellate court that hears appeals from decisions from Virginia's circuit courts and the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission. Appeals from this court go to the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The University of Virginia Law Library served as a repository for the records of the Court of Appeals of Virginia from 1985 to sometime in the 2000s. During that period, the Court transferred the materials in this collection directly to the Library.
