Lewis recorded, in an “Richardson’s Virginia and North Carolina Almanac for 1849,” agricultural details, church services, weather, the death of his son, Sam, at 13 years on July 1, 1849, and his wife Jane, on July 31, 1849; He also noted that Thomas left for school at Mr. Cameron’s at King George Courthouse in September and Harry to Rappahannock Academy in October.
