Biographical / Historical
Robert L. "Pete" Potter football coach and boxing champion and class of '55 University of Virginia. He served in the Korean war and was the head coach at McCallie High shool in Chatanooga Tennessee from 1973 to 1993. The McCallie football field at Spears Stadium in Chattanooga was officially named n memory of Peter Potter in a special ceremony on October 9, 2015.
According to a speech given by his son, Ralph Potter (McCallie football coach), "Pete Potter was a great coach, a great mentor, a great husband, and a great dad". He was a stand out athlete at Red Bank High School and the University of Virgnia.
