Dale Hill Papers
Content Description
This collection contains recordings, notes, forms, consent waivers, and photographs relating to the start of co-education at the University of Virginia. The bulk of the collection are audiovisual files maintained on audio cassettes, DVDs, CDs, and a flash drive, documenting three different events related to co-education. The first is a garden party for the first graduated class of women held in 2004 for their 30th reunion. Women were encouraged to come to a microphone to share their experiences. The second event is unedited full footage of the 2-day panel discussion hosted by the UVA Alumni Association in March 2011. Panelists were all current or former UVA administrators with ties to coeducation decisions. The files of the last event document a presentation at Rosemont Manor in March 2012 hosted by Dale Hill; panel consisted of members of the Class of ’74 (men and women) and contains individual interviews and footage from the event. In addition to the audiovisual materials, there are articles, consent forms, and research material on coeducation as well as photographs from the time.
