Coleman, Bromm, Kirschmann, and Related Families Papers, 1861-2018, circa 1250 items consisting primarily of the papers of Robert Cary Coleman and his parents William Eugene and Louise Mattern Coleman; of Louis Bromm and his children; of William Daniel Kirschman and his children; and incidental papers of the Mattern and Dietrich families. The papers include correspondence, business records, legal documents, photographs, news clippings, and miscellaneous printed material. Of interest are several documents, 1865-1867, concerning the establishment of L. Bromm Baking Co. Inc. in Richmond, Va.; correspondence with family in Germany; two Ivorytype photographs made in Richmond; numerous other late 19th century photographs made in various Richmond studios; exams, papers, and notes from Westhampton College, circa 1923-1926; correspondence, exams, notebooks, papers and other material from the University of Virginia, circa 1964-1972; letters by a UVa student in Vietnam writing back to Charlottesville, circa 1969-1971; scrapbooks; home movies; and artifacts including a railroad spike commemorating the opening of electric streetcar service in Richmond, 1888 February 2. All of Robert Cary Coleman’s graded tests, papers, and grade reports are unrestricted.
