This addition to RG-24/54/1.151, Ralph Cohen papers and "New Literary History" records, contains notes, manuscripts, articles, drafts, correspondences, publications, proposals, books, pamphlets, coursebooks, syllabi, thesis, audiocassettes, CD-Rs, DVDs, and mini discs that pertain to New Literary History journal and Cohen's work with the Commonwealth Center for Literary and Cultural Change. The collection includes Ralph Cohen essays, drafts, correspondence regarding The Art of Discrimination, Cohen's dissertation on Hume, and recent books & book on Hume with Cohen marginalia, work on Barnwell, syllabi for courses taught at UVa and JMU; materials related to the Commonwealth Center for Literary and Cultural Change (CCLCC) including seminar events and papers, foundation statement, papers, and tape recordings of presentations. Cohen served as the R. Kenan, Jr. professor of English at the University of Virginia from 1967 to 2009 and also taught at the City College of New York (1947-1950), the University of California Los Angeles (1950-1967), and James Madison University (2010-2013). He founded the journal "New Literary History," an international, interdisciplinary, award-winning journal that Cohen oversaw and edited from 1969 to 2009. He was the Director of the Commonwealth Center for Literary and Cultural Change (1988-94) at the University of Virginia.
