This collection contains the ledger of Edwin A. Herring of Harrisonburg, Virginia, recording his real estate holding and investments in Virginia. Approximately 26 pages have been filled out with manuscript, generally a few lines to a half page of text. Dr. Edwin A. Hering recording his real estate holdings and investments in Salem, Waynesboro, and Harrisonburg, Virginia. Nine pages relate to his owning of Blue Rock Farm, which he purchased from his father-in-law, Alex Hamilton for $78 an acre in 1875. Two additional pages of text record Hering's stock sales to a Baltimore bank, likely to fund the purchase. Another nine pages document Hering's investments in Basic City, a town in Augusta County that is today part of Waynesboro. Another page of content relates to Hering's purchase and management of the A Strealy property in Waynesboro, while the remaining five or so pages record Hering's investments in the Salem Development Company.
