Acquisition Type

Purchased March 12, 2021. A special note, in 1922, when the papers were in the possession of Caroline Ticknor, she selected from them approximately 65 autograph letters and manuscripts to use in an extra-illustrated copy of Glimpses of Authors, specially bound for her in two volumes. This was held in private hands until the Spring of 2020 when it was consigned to Forum Auctions. The consigner was not identified. Forum Auctions removed the letters and manuscripts sold them on July 2 and 16, 2020 in separate lots. Aprroximately forty were saved from being scattered apart. These are the letters held in this collection.
