Addition to MSS 5310. Bret Harte discusses literary matters and his discomfort as U.S. Consul in Crefeld, a small city in the German Rhineland, where he'd been. Harte writes to his Boston publisher asking him to send the first and later editions of Poetical Works of Bret Harte. "The Diamond edition will do, and (I think two) later volumes [there were in fact, seven, 1872-1878] I want to get up a decent English edition. I expect to go to England a month or two later to lecture..."
