The David Nelson Sutton papers consist of handwritten notes taken while attending the University of Virginia Department of Law in 1919-1920, and some printed materials, including examinations and programs, that relate to his classes. There are two folders that document his nomination to the presidency of the Virginia State Bar Association in 1948, and his nomination as a member of the House of Delegates at the seventy-fifth meeting of the American Bar Association in 1953.

The Folk collection is comprised of professional files, working files concerning consulting work; drafts, notes, etc., for articles; and a few folders regarding his home in Ivy. In addition, there are assorted teaching materials concerning law and the arts.

This small collection consists of lithoprinted copies of the lectures of professor John B. Minor on “Personal Property” and “Remedies, including Pleading and Practice,” and a top hat.

The six original bound lectures and hat belonged to George H. Marks, of Montgomery, Alabama, Class of 1876, who attended the School of Common and Statute Law at the University of Virginia.

This collection consists of examinations that the University of Virginia Law School administered to students between 1890 and 2018. It also includes a few examples of examination answers.

The examinations exist in diverse media formats. Most of them are printed on paper, and most printed examinations are bound together into volumes. The other examinations were born digital and were initially made available to students online or on digital media (e.g., CDs, DVDs).

This ongoing collection documents the history of the moot courts at UVA Law and consists of meeting minutes, briefs, ledgers, programs, handbooks, and awards.

This collection reflects Mortimer M. Caplin's life during his years as a student at the University of Virginia and as Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service. It consists primarily of awards, photographs, certificates, articles, interviews, and newspaper clippings.

This collection consists of newsletters and blogs produced by the University of Virginia School of Law. They document the School's history and may include news, announcements, event schedules, photographs, and feature articles.

This collection does not contain newsletters and blogs produced by University of Virginia's law students. Those resources are preserved in separate student organization collections.

They generally consist of news articles, videos, and sound recordings. These materials document the School of Law's wide-ranging work and provide evidence of how the School markets itself to the broader world.

This collection consists of materials that document the work of the State and Local Government Policy Clinic at the University of Virginia School of Law. These materials include websites and publications. The collection also contains items documenting the clinic's participation in major projects including the Commission to Examine Racial and Economic Inequality in Virginia Law (2019-2022).

This is a collection of programs for University of Virginia Final Exercises and Law School Commencement Exercises, and photographs of graduations.

The programs were merged with the ones given to Special Collections by Career Services in 2012 [See: RG315 – 2012]

This collection consists of a matriculation book and a metal die that was used to stamp the logo on the book cover. Starting with the class of 2026, students at the University of Virginia School of Law sign their names in the book.
